Many faculty will be engaged in projects at the new center to tackle bigger and greater challenges for the feeding sector. Last, we are excited to offer a new student learning experience once we implement a feedlot school. The school will target a handful of undergraduate students who may lack experience but want to gain hands-on knowledge with limited classroom exposure during a four- to six-month job at the Klosterman Feedlot Innovation Center. We think this experience will expose students to the latest research in housing management, sustainable production and manure management, and remote sensing for cattle tracking, health, welfare and emissions. Those students will then either be ready for other programs like the Timmerman Feedlot Program or to take industry jobs. It's an exciting time for us here at UNL and we hope to make the industry proud with the outcomes expected in the next few years. NC KLOSTERMAN FEEDLOT INNOVATION CENTER UPDATE • CONTINUED FROM PAGE 26 1 COLUMN X 3” Black & white ebraska Cattleman Bruns Feedlot August 2023 t 4,000-head capacity t Abundant feed supply t Risk management available t Part or full retained ownership t Consulting veterinarian and nutritionist t Cattle and feed financing BRUNS Feedlot LLC Family owned & operated for over 50 years!
