By Jessica Rudolph NC Director of Membership-Retention Nebraska Cattlemen (NC) affiliate associations are a very important facet of membership, and NC cannot effectively grow without them. All NC affiliates are encouraged to retain and/or grow their membership numbers year after year. New in 2023, the affiliate with the highest retention or growth rate from Nov. 1, 2022, to Oct. 31, 2023, will be rewarded with a cash prize that may be used for affiliate activities. Contest Specifications: • NC staff will send each affiliate their starting membership numbers as of Nov. 1, 2022. • NC staff will periodically send updated membership numbers to affiliates, allowing them to monitor their progress. • The contest will end on Oct. 31, 2023, and the winning affiliate will be notified Nov. 1, 2023. • The winning affiliate will receive paperwork and must submit the intended use of the funds to Nebraska Cattlemen to receive the cash prize. Nebraska Cattlemen Top Hand Contest The most effective membership recruitment is members telling others why they are members. The Top Hand Club was formed to reward members who assist with growing Nebraska Cattlemen membership and dues revenue. The Top Hand contest runs from Nov. 1 to Oct. 31 of every year. To become a Nebraska Cattlemen Top Hand Club member, an NC member must recruit three new members for a total of $500 or more. There are many members who recruit but very few who reach this level. We consider them the elite and deserving of the name Top Hand. To encourage Top Hands, Nebraska Cattlemen rebates 3 percent of the revenue to the recruiter, and prizes will be awarded at the NC Annual Convention in December 2023.
